Talent Show
2nd Annual Primary Talent Show!!! Since it is Christmas year 'round the Smith house, the girls wanted to sing Angels we have heard on High. I was the MC, so they had already started singing before I could get to my camera, but I got most of it.

Snow part 4
Ava made about 1000 snow angels. Mimi ate about 400 fist fulls of snow and Josh got to chase the girls and throw snow balls. All in all... it was a fantastic day!!!!
It snowed in Georgia
I know I am a little bit late on posting, BUT... it did snow in Georgia. Good snow. Real Snow. Beautiful Snow!
Little Bunny Ava
This week at school, Ava learned about Easter. The real meaning. And learned about bunnies. I picked up her up from school with her face painted as a bunny. She thought she looked awesome! Thanks Jess-it was a huge hit!!!
Jokes on me!
Before I get into this post let me announce that I am fully aware of the many things I need to blog about. I will get to them... EVENTUALLY!
So, on to this post. Jokes on Me! In light of the recent April Fools Day I thought it would be fun to do a little bit of a different dinner. The girls are getting older now and starting to 'get' things. I told the girls that we were going to have a "Silly Dinner" when dad got home.
Josh walks in the door, and I ask him if he will take the girls and himself into the other room while I finished up dinner. (because he didn't know what I had planned either- and I wanted it to be a surprise)
I had planned all day on making 'Cupcakes and Ice cream' for dinner. (remember, Ava calls it asscream). The joke of it is that the 'cake' part is actually meatloaf with mashed potato 'frosting'. (I made the frosting hot pink and orange for my hot pink and orange lovin' girls) I over steamed cauliflower, mashed it and scooped it out to look like Ice cream. Really, I was quite excited about the meal; as it turned out pretty darn cute if I may say so myself.
ANYway, I told the fam they could come into the kitchen and asked the girls if they would please move their art projects off of the table.
As soon as Mimi walks into the kitchen she says "OOOOOOh cupcakes! Can I have one after dinner, please Please PLEASE?"
My response?"Why sure you can."
As the girls are cleaning off the table, Josh 'gets' it and starts putting food onto the plates. This is when it all starts going downhill. REALLY.
Ava notices and yells out "NO, dad! Those are for after dinner. That is dessert. Mimi can have one after dinner. Mom said that Mimi could have a cupcake AFTER dinner. Not NOW. DAD.... NOOOOO."
Josh and I just kind of laugh about this and keep going about our business.
Ava continues to yell "DAAAAAAAD... NOOOOOO. That is not dinner. Those are for AFTER. You can't have a cupcake before. You have to have DINNER FIRST!"
Josh asks Ava "What color would you like, Pink or Orange?"
Again, "Dad. I'm serious. Those are for dessert."
AND THEN SHE STARTS CRYING.
The poor little girl is really crying because we are trying to feed her a cupcake for dinner. OH MY GOSH!
Mimi meanwhile, is just staring at the cupcakes and asking Josh to bring hers to her. She WOULD eat it. Saying "Dad, I'll eat mine. I want the pink ones. I don't mind. Really. I'll eat it!"
We all sit down with our plates loaded with Cupcakes and ice cream and .....we have prayer... all the whilst Ava is STILL crying.
We say Amen and Mimi digs in.... it totally gives her the rigors. She yells out "Mom, there is something wrong with this icing. It doesn't taste right. OH wait, I know why... it's cause its warm. Icing isn't supposed to be warm!"
Bless Emery's heart. That hot pink stuff was just calling to her. She can't pass it up. Every time she takes a bite, it gives her the shakes. BUT it's PINK!!!!
Ava, who is still crying, is just sitting there. Looking at us. Staring at us. Disgusted by the fact we were eating a cupcake... INSTEAD OF DINNER. I look over at her and say in the nicest voice I can muster
"Ava, honey. Eat. Take a bite before I MAKE you eat it." Ava looks at me, as I'm giving her 'the look', dips her finger into the 'icing' and licks it. She basically gags on it and then yells, pretty much as loud as she can.... "MOM..... I can NOT believe it. This does N.O.T. taste like assing. Y.o.u. messed up the RECIPE! I can NOT believe it."
Josh now looks at Ava and says "YOU, young lady do NOT talk to your mother like that. Do you understand?"
Emery, still going to town on the 'weird pink stuff that doesn't taste quite right' gets the the cupcake part and yells out "MOM, there is MEAT in here!!!! Awesome!"
At least one of the girls liked it!
Ava did not eat her dinner. She took a few mandatory bites of the cupcake and a few bites of the ice cream.
Like I said... Jokes on me!
All day today she kept saying "Mom, I really don't want any of those cupcakes, k?"
Maybe I have totally turned her from cupcakes all together!
(NOW. Now I think this is quite hilarious. NOW. But last night. OH last night. I did NOT think it was very funny. At all. As you see, I had already had a REALLY bad day. Then I put a lot of time and effort into this 'fun and silly' meal for my family and then for Ava to yell at me. Oh that girl!)
